Graeme McDowell is fast earning the nickname 'Mr Sunday' after a course-record-equalling, six-under-64 gave him a share of sixth place behind winner Rory Sabbatini in the Honda Classic.
He made a mockery of the famous Bear Trap at PGA National, playing the infamous 15th, 16th and 17th holes in one-under-par for the week -- five strokes better than the field average.
McDowell holed a 35-footer on the 17th yesterday and then birdied the par-five 18th to boost his confidence ahead of a clash with the Blue Monster at Doral this week.
Rory McIlroy was undone by a nightmare run through the Bear Trap in Saturday's high winds, where he made three double-bogeys in a row for a 77 before closing with a rollercoaster 75, finishing tied 70th on 16-over-par.
Sabbatini saw his five-stroke overnight lead reduced to one shot over YE Yang with three to play. The South African birdied the 16th to extend that to two shots and while the Korean birdied the last for a 66, Sabbatini finished with two safe pars for a closing 70 and one-stroke win on nine-under-par.
