Fleetwood sets record

ENGLAND'S Tommy Fleetwood posted the low round of the European Challenge Tour season, a course record-shattering 61, to claim a three-stroke lead at the halfway stage of the Apulia San Domenica Grand Finale, WRITES KARL MacGINTY.
The scoring was so low during yesterday's second round that a one-under-par 70 sent Ireland's Simon Thornton tumbling into a share of 23rd place on five-under.
Should Southport native Fleetwood go on to win the Grand Finale, he will leapfrog fellow countryman Sam Little into first place on the final money list.
Thornton, currently 15th in the rankings, can ill afford to fall back any further if he's to win one of the European Tour cards to be collected by the top-20 in the 2011 standings tomorrow evening.
