Dream about to become a reality for amateur Paul Dunne as Open tee-off times announced
The tee-off times for the opening two rounds of the Open have been announced and amateur Paul Dunne now knows who will be keeping him company for the first two days at Royal Liverpool.
Two-time Open winner Padriag Harrington will be joined by KJ Choi and fellow Major winner South African Charl Schwartzel with Rory McIlroy the in the next group after the Dubliner when he tees off at 9.26am with Jordan Speith and Hideki Matsuyama of Japan.
Northern Ireland golfer Michael Hoey is off at 12.21 with Charly Hoffman and George Coetzee, while Graeme McDowell is in the company of American Matt Kuchar and Louis Oosthuizan. Darren Clarke will be in Major-winning company as he makes his way around the course with American pair Jim Furyk and Tom Watson.
Shane Lowry is the final Irish golfer to get his Open underway at 3.22 with England’s Loiver Fisher and Chesson Hadley.
For amateur Paul Dunne it will be a weekend to remember and the Greystones man will be with American Mark Wiebe and Rafael Cabrera-Bello for the opening 36 holes.
The season's third major will be the first time Tiger Woods will tee it up with a chance to cut into that deficit to Jack Nicklaus' 18 major championships. Woods has just one start, and two competitive rounds, since his late March back he'll go morning-afternoon in the first two rounds, playing alongside Angel Cabrera and Henrik Stenson.
