Doctor's order

DR BOB ROTELLA helped keep Darren Clarke on an even keel at Sandwich but precisely how was debated jovially after the American psychologist suggested at lunchtime on Saturday that the Ulsterman's "much better when he's unconscious!"

Okay, everyone knows what Dr Bob meant: "When Darren's conscious and thinking (on the golf course) it's more difficult for him."

For the record, Clarke had a couple of beers, a couple of glasses of wine and a curry with Rory McIlroy, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen at the International Sports Management HQ in Sandwich, then headed to bed for nine hours' sleep.
