Coetzee, 28, took the first prize of €166,660 with a birdie on the second extra hole after both players finished tied on 13 under par 271.

With this win, the South African earned only his third victory in 139 attempts on the European circuit.

Ireland's Kevin Phelan shot a creditable 69, two under par to finish a joint 44th place in event which is the first to be tri-sanctioned by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours.

"It is great to get another victory on the European Tour and it counts towards my Sunshine Tour ranking as well," said Coetzee. "I actually played on the Asian Tour in 2009 and I couldn't make a cut - I was living on scraps - so it is nice to finally get an Asian Tour win as well."
