BRITISH OPEN champion Darren Clarke, who is "absolutely shattered" after seven unforgettable weeks which included his mind-blowing victory at Royal St George's, flew out of Atlanta last night to link up with his family for a 10-day holiday.
"My body needs a huge rest and for the next 10 days I'm not going to pick up a club," said Clarke. The fatigue showed as he failed to land one birdie in 36 holes at the PGA, missing the cut on 14-over after yesterday's 76. "I hit 25 out of 36 greens and had 71 putts. I just had a nightmare. My body needs a huge rest and it is going to get one. I'll be back at (the Omega Masters) in Switzerland when I'm ready."
