THE first captain and president of Castle Dargan, the Darren Clarke-designed course in Sligo, are now in office.
Dermot Flynn and estate owner Dermot Fallon are the inaugural captain and president respectively and can enjoy an historic year as the course moves forward.
Flynn said: "I am very proud to be the Captain of Castle Dargan in its inaugural year.
"This resort is now amongst the finest in Ireland and the Darren Clarke golf course is something very special indeed. I know our members will enjoy every minute of their time here and I'm honoured to have been chosen as captain."
A Regional Sales Director with Brooks Group West and a 14-handicap golfer, Flynn has enjoyed success in the past with Strandhill GC where he won the Captain's Prize in 1996.
New Club President and owner of Castle Dargan, Fallon said: "I purchased Castle Dargan in 1998 with the sole objective of creating a world-class hotel, Wellness and golf resort for the North West of Ireland.
"We have also incorporated on the estate residential private homes, golf lodges and apartments where owners can enjoy all the trappings of Castle Dargan and more."
Fallon is married to Brid and they have three children.
Castle Dargan is a 170-acre estate just eight minutes outside Sligo.
The golf club has also recently appointed Xavier Medas as Resident PGA Professional.
A former assistant to Jim Robinson at Rosses Point, Xavier will oversee the extensive tuition program being introduced Castle Dargan for members and guests in 2007.
