British Open: Kelly keeps nerve
JERRY KELLY struck the opening shot of the championship at 6.30am yesterday and had good reason to be nervous as he stood on the first tee.
Kelly (44), from Wisconsin, made an 11 on his first hole when the British Open last visited Sandwich in 2003 on his way to a first-round 86. So his three-putt bogey there yesterday wasn't at all bad. Even a double-bogey six at the second was bearable. The American finished with a four-over 74.
