A disappointing bogey-bogey finish at the US Open international qualifying event saw Padraig Harrington narrowly lose out on a place at the second major of the year.

A finish inside the top 13 at Walton Heath would have been enough for the Dubliner to book a place at the event he last played in 2013, but two late dropped shots saw him finish in 16th, two shots outside the required finish.

Harrington has recorded five top 10 finishes at the US Open in his career.

England's Lee Slattery and Sweden's Alex Noren were among the players who secured a ticket for the US Open this afternoon.
