19th hole win for Castletroy

Castletroy claimed the Munster title in the Irish Junior Foursomes with a thrilling 19th hole win over Mallow at Newcastle West.

The eventual champions led by four holes with an aggregate five holes to play between the two pairings. Michael Kitt and Adam Myers halved the last to lose by one hole to Mallow's Jack Dillon and Ronan Feerick. Mallow's Roy Whelan and Daniel O'Sullivan then won the 16th, 17th and 18th to force the match up the 19th.

The long, par-five first proved to be the decisive hole, with Dara Neville's 100-yard approach to four feet setting up a winning birdie for the nerveless Niall O'Brien.

 

Semi-Finals: Mallow beat Cahir Park, 19th hole

Jack Dillon & Ronan Feerick lost to Ian Halpin & Oliver Pearson, 1 hole. Roy Whelan and Daniel O'Sullivan bt Jake Lindy & Ben Halpin 19th hole.

Castletroy beat Blarney, 1 hole

Michael Kitt & Adam Myers beat Jonathan Scannell & Darragh Murphy 4 holes. Dara Neville & Niall O'Brien lost to Darren Kelliher and Daniel Murphy, 3 holes.

Final: Castletroy beat Mallow 19th Hole

Michael Kitt & Adam Myers lost to Jack Dillon & Ronan Feerick, 1 hole. Dara Neville & Niall O'Brien beat Roy Whelan and Daniel O'Sullivan, 19th hole.
