Widely recognised as two of the greatest GAA stars to ever grace their respective codes, Henry Shefflin and Peter Canavan have joined the Irish Independent and Independent.ie as the part of our 2015 Championship team.
Shefflin, the most decorated player to ever pick up a hurl, decided to call time on his glittering career after 10 All-Ireland medals, but will give his in-depth analysis throughout the campaign as he watches on from the stands with his former Kilkenny team-mates looking to make it back-to-back success in September.
His first column is in today's Irish independent and Independent.ie and reveals the contentment in his decision to hang-up his boots, his predictions for the 2015 Championship and how manager Brian Cody inspired his team to success.
"It's funny," he writes, "when you're in that bubble of an inter-county set-up, there's this constant process of just driving relentlessly forward all the time."
"The cycle consumes you and it's only when you step away that you really appreciate the ridiculous nature of what we have achieved in Kilkenny. I'm talking to JJ Delaney and Tommy Walsh now and we're thinking it's crazy the number of All-Irelands we won in our careers."
Double All-Ireland winner with Tyrone Canavan will offer his detailed knowledge every Saturday in the Irish independent and Independent.ie.
"I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas with readers in what promises to be another intriguing championship," the six-time All Star says.
Shefflin and Canavan join another star-studded team that contains Tomás Ó Sé, Eoin Liston, John Mullane, Cyril Farrell, along with detailed analysis from Colm Keys, Vincent Hogan, Donnchadh Boyle, Martin Breheny and Liam Kelly.
