The Clare broadcaster will be joined by a panel of regular guests -former Roscommon goalkeeper and Connacht championship winner Shane Curran , former Kilkenny All Ireland winner David Herity and Cork Camogie star Anna Geary.

Marty will present the show alongside Paddy McKenna while Brenda Donohue will be travelling the country getting the opinion of fans.

Marty Morrissey said: “To win an All-Ireland takes a great squad of players… and it’s the same for radio! I am delighted to be part of this new squad and to work for the first time with Paddy Mc Kenna and to renew acquaintances with Brenda Donohue. But it’s not about us, it’s about you, your feelings, your joy and your heartbreak as we travel together to Croke Park for the All-Ireland Finals.”

Paddy McKenna said: “I'm really looking forward to co-presenting The Marty Squad. We have something like seven All-Ireland medals on the expert panel; Marty is Clare, Brenda is Dublin they and their fellow countymen live, breed and expect GAA success and titles. I'm from Leitrim … so they must have decided they needed to balance all that out!"

It promises to be a busy summer for Marty as he is also the face for GAA magazine show Championship Matters every Friday on RTE Two.

On the weekend before last, his RTE colleague Joe Brolly landed in hot water after he called the commentator "ugly" on the Sunday Game.

Speaking about Cavan's style of football, Brolly said, "Somebody said it's as ugly as Marty Morrissey, their football."

Brolly was reprimanded for his comments by RTE and the pair have reconciled.
