Monaghan's Walshe suffers cruciate injury

Monaghan All Star defender, Colin Walshe will be out of football for anything between six and nine months after it was confirmed that he had torn his cruciate ligament.

  • Go To

Walshe has developed into one of the most accomplished defenders in the game and has represented Monaghan at all levels since starting his inter-county career at Vocational Schools level when he captained Monaghan to Ulster and All-Ireland titles. He rapidly graduated up through the ranks to making his senior debut having also won a Ryan Cup medal with DIT and captaining DCU to the Sigerson Cup title.

His exploits as a defender when Monaghan ended a 25 year Ulster championship famine in 2013 saw him awarded an All Star. His injury could rule him out of the early stages at least of the 2015 National League programme.
