Eimear Scally produced a superb second-half display as champions Cork edged past Monaghan in Tullamore.

Scally landed five points as the Rebelettes survived a real scare to book a quarter-final clash with Connacht champions Galway on August 19, while All-Star Orla Finn also chipped in with a five-point haul.

The by-product of this Cork win - their first of the championship after defeats to Kerry and Waterford - is relegation to the intermediate ranks for Leinster counties Laois and Kildare.

Ciara McAnespie's goal with eight minutes of normal time remaining - verified by the LGFA's new 'score assistant' - put Ulster runners-up Monaghan into a 1-9 to 0-11 lead with time running out. But Cork were in no mood to lie down and Scally claimed the game's final three points, levelling matters from a free before clipping over two more points from play.
