Dublin boss Gregory McGonigle hailed the intensity, work rate and discipline of his players after they eased past Armagh to book a final clash with Cork.

The Jackies will face off against the Rebelettes on September 27.

Dublin are going into the final with an impressive performance under their belts, but still have plenty to work on.

They registered 13 wides at Parnell Park on Saturday, but had the hard work done in the first half.

McGonigle revealed that Dublin had planned to nullify Armagh’s main threats – midfielder Caroline O’Hanlon and ace forward Aimee Mackin.

McGonigle said: “Our intensity and our work-rate was very good, very disciplined. Olwen Carey had a serious performance on possibly the player of the year at the minute (Mackin).

“I also thought Amy Connolly did a serious job on Caroline O’Hanlon.”

Dublin flew out of the traps and Armagh had no answers.

Within 10 minutes, Dublin were five points clear before captain Lyndsey Davey netted in the 12th minute to open up an eight-point advantage.

O’Hanlon replied with a 14th-minute goal. At the break, Dublin were ahead by 1-9 to 1-1 and there was no let-up on the resumption.

As the game petered out in the final 10 minutes, Mackin grabbed a consolation goal.

Within a minute, though, Sarah McCaffrey rattled home a brilliant goal for Dublin. Skipper Davey led by example with a haul of 1-2.
