Dublin will play Mayo in the TG4 All-Ireland ladies SFC semi-finals but only after surviving a tough test from a resolute Donegal in Longford on Saturday.

"We missed a lot, even from frees, but eventually the girls' character came through," said Dublin manager Greg McGonigle.

Dublin trailed 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time after being rocked by Yvonne McGonagle's 21st-minute goal.

But a third quarter goal from top scorer Sinead Aherne (1-6) put Dublin four points clear before Geraldine McLaughlin's 55th-minute goal threw Donegal a lifeline before scores from Rowe and Aherne (free) settled it.

"Just one mistake in defence cost us but overall, it was a great team effort, we've no regrets," said Donegal boss Michael Naughton.
