Wexford sweat on McDonald as attacker suffers ankle injury
Conor McDonald has emerged as an injury doubt for Wexford's Leinster hurling final meeting with Galway on July 2 after reportedly picking up an ankle injury over the weekend.
Model boss Davy Fitzgerald will be sweating on the fitness of McDonald after the Naomh Éanna attacker damaged ankle ligaments in training and he is now in a race against time to face the Tribesmen.
The 21-year-old has assumed free-taking duties and been instrumental in the rapid progress made since Fitzgerald's arrival last October helping to secure promotion to Division 1A for 2018 and hitting five points, four from placed balls, in their shock Leinster semi-final defeat of Kilkenny earlier this month.
Without a fully-fit McDonald, Wexford's chances of lifting the Bob O'Keeffe Cup for the first time since 2004 would be greatly compromised and the Slaneysiders will be desperate he makes a swift recovery with the full extent of the damage as yet unknown.
