Templemore turn on style to secure top spot in group

Our Lady's Secondary School from Templemore ensured that they topped Group B of this Munster Colleges SH clash with a perfect record yesterday.

Ahead of their meeting with Gaelcholaiste Mhuire AG at Ballyagran, Our Lady's were level on six points with St Francis College, Rochestown.

Having already beaten the Cork school, though, Templemore were guaranteed to top the group but rubber-stamped their progress with a comprehensive victory.

Paul Bergin's first-half goal helped the victors to a 1-13 to 1-7 half-time lead, Lyndon Fairbrother among the points, with Donal O Conaing finding the net for the Cork city side.

Jerry Kelly and Aidan O'Meara added further green flags for Templemore in the second period and they had good performances from Paddy Cadell, David O'Shea and Diarmuid Ryan.

Seven of the eight quarter-finalists are now known, with Templemore, Rochestown, Ardscoil Ris, Nenagh CBS, St Colman's College, Castletroy College and CBC Cork all through.

The final spot will go to either DLS Waterford or Midleton CBS, who meet in the final Group 1 game tomorrow.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Harty and its football equivalent, the Corn Ui Mhuiri, will take place this Friday night, December 18.
