The champions made a dream start when Michael Ryan slipped full-forward Seaghan Conneely in for a goal on five minutes and built a strong lead against the wind. Paddy Lynch chipped one in from play and the champions adjourned with their two-in-a-row hopes on track, and a 1-7 to 0-5 lead.

With the wind at their backs, Fechin’s wasted no time in putting the issue beyond doubt, man-of-the-match Ryan rifling in his team’s second goal just four minutes after the break before tapping into an empty net for his second four minutes later to make it 3-9 to 0-9.

A long David Stephenson effort dropped to the net for goal number four and a straight red card for Stephen Kettle  compounded a miserable afternoon for Knockbridge.
