There had been a lot of speculation beforehand that last year's Hurler of the Year would miss the game through injury but he made the starting XV.

His thigh was strapped heavily and he had been struggling with a back injury in recent weeks and he certainly wasn't at his mercurial best.

Did hit two points from play but was rarely involved and showed his frustration when he was replaced by Richie Power for the last 10 minutes.

2 min: Loses the hurley catching an Eoin Murphy puck-out which leads to a Michael Fennelly point.

13 min: Hogan's shot is partially blocked but drops to Walter Walsh who sets up TJ Reid for the game's first goal.

14 min: Picks out Colin Fennelly with a terrific crossfield pass. Fennelly is fouled and TJ Reid dispatched the free.

22 min:  Hogan wins another puck-out and releases Larkin but he fouls the sliotar again.

29 min: A quiet start from last year's Hurler of the Year but he finds the target from underneath the Hogan Stand.

36 min: Richie Hogan had his thigh strapped in the first half. The strapping is gone for the start of the second.

45 min: A second point for Hogan to draw the game level. 1-12 to 0-15

60 min: Richie Hogan replaced by Richie Power. He was clearly unimpressed with the decision.
