Owens gets final nod
Wexford whistler James Owens will take charge of this year's All-Ireland senior hurling final between Galway and Kilkenny.
It's the first time Owens will take charge of the showpiece event and caps a steady rise through the officiating ranks for the Askamore clubman.
He has previously taken charge of the All-Ireland semi-final meeting between Cork and Tipperary, while in 2013 he officiated the Rebels' win over Dublin at the last-four stage.
Owens also took charge of the club final between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Kilmallock earlier this year.
James Dunbar, John Clarke, David Owens (all Askamore) and Ian Plunkett (Marshalstown) will be the umpires for this year's decider.
Johnny Ryan from Tipperary will act as standby referee while the other linesman is James McGrath (Westmeath) and the sideline official will be Owen Elliott (Antrim).
Carlow's Paud O'Dwyer from the Palatine club will be the man in the middle for the minor decider between Galway and Tipperary.
