Two Stephen O'Gorman first-half goals against the run of play when playing into the wind helped Wexford to an unconvincing victory over Laois in this Leinster minor hurling championship game.
It was played at Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday afternoon.
It was Laois who played all the quality hurling during the opening 30 minutes.
Stephen Dunphy, Stephen Phelan and Mark Kavanagh picked off a string of excellent points that left them leading 0-16 to 2-4 at the interval - after a first-half with plenty of action and scores.
It was a lead that could and should have been greater, but for O'Gorman's capitalising on defensive errors.
The first Wexford goal was a close-range finish after 15 minutes at a time when they were trailing 0-8 to 0-2.
The second, with Laois leading 0-14 to 1-2, arrived four minutes before the break.
Despite scoring just a single Mark Kavanagh second-half point after 49 minutes, they were still level, 2-11 to 0-17, as the game entered the closing minutes.
An Ian Carty point one minute from the end put the home side in front for the first time.
Ciaran O'Connor then added a pointed free in additional time to secure the victory for the Model County.
