O'Byrne blooms as Garden men pick off Rossies
Wicklow 1-14 Roscommon 0-11
Wicklow booked their place in the All-Ireland U21 B Hurling Final in Thurles on September 12 with a comfortable win over Roscommon at Athleague.
The visitors dominated possession in the opening half and despite clocking up 10 wides they led Roscommon by 0-7 to 0-4 at the interval on Saturday.
Wicklow increased their lead to six points at the start of the second half when Cian O'Byrne, who finished the game with 1-2, found the net at the third attempt, despite some heroic defending.
The Roscommon cause was made all the more difficult in the 49th minute when midfielder Chris Duignan picked up his second yellow card.
Wicklow matched Roscommon score for score for the remaining 11 minutes and although the Rossies missed an injury-time penalty the game was, in truth, out of reach.
