O'Brien makes instant impact for Wicklow
Wicklow 5-16 St Patrick's/DCU 4-7
Andy O'Brien returned to the Wicklow starting line-up after a year away with 3-6 to power Wicklow past St Patrick's in the opening match of the Kehoe Cup.
O'Brien scored 2-3 by the break and Christy Moorehouse punished any St Patrick's ill-discipline with his free taking.
Wicklow led by 2-07 to 1-5 at half time as Martin Og Storey gave St Pat's some hope with his goal, but O'Brien bagged his hat-trick early in the second half to extend the lead to 3-10 to 1-6.
Goals by Seán Morrissey, Patrick Spellacy and Storey's second offered them a lifeline until Ronan Keddy's outrageous goal put the match beyond St Patrick's. Moorehouse converted a late penalty.
