Nolan and Kelly run riot
Offaly 5-22 Kildare 1-12
Despite Kildare reducing a nine-point margin to within one score in the 27th minute, five goals between Offaly's Emmet Nolan and Oisin Kelly ensured the Faithful progressed with ease.
Two goals inside the opening ten minutes from Oisin Kelly were trumped by Kildare full-back Conor Dowling's 21st-minute goal and four Brian Byrne points. Kelly's goals had given Offaly a 2-4 to 0-1 lead inside the tenth minute but further points from Byrne, Eoin O'Hehir and Ryan Casey lifted Kildare to within two points by the 27th minute.
However, Nolan re-established Offaly's lead (1-7 to 3-7) with a 28th-minute goal. After Kildare's Jack Sheridan was shown a second yellow in the 38th minute, Nolan got his second goal in the 45th minute and Kelly his third as Offaly ran out comfortable winners.
