Nerveless Hyland forces replay

Carnew looked like they would lose their second consecutive county final, but 43-year-old Don Hyland scored with the last puck of the game to save the day.
It was a low-scoring match and both sets of defences were on top, though holders Bray will rue six first half wides and nine in total.
Playing with the wind in the first half, Bray briefly led by three points after 10 minutes when Diarmuid Masterson hit a monster free but Carnew did well to reduce the deficit to one at the end of the half.
They were the better team at the start of the second half too and turned the one point deficit into a one point lead mid-way into the half. However a Mikey Lee goal, made by Eoin McCormack, turned the match back into Bray's favour. Lee and Moorehouse added points to create a three point lead with ten minutes to go.
That looked like a lead Bray wouldn't give up but Hyland, on the 21 metre line feet from the side line, had other ideas. They'lldo battle again next Sunday for the replay.
