Wicklow snatched victory away from Mayo after overturning a six-point half-time deficit in Arklow.

Kenny Feeney and Padraig Hickey starred in the first half for Mayo.

The visitors took control by scoring six points without reply in a 12-minute stretch and while Wicklow came back to within two, an excellent Joseph McManus goal just before half-time gave them a 1-11 to 0-8 lead at the break.

Three points in 40 seconds put Wicklow within a goal in the 45th minute and that difference remained between the teams by the 59th minute when George O'Brien got Wicklow's first goal.

Three minutes later Padraig Doyle got the second Wicklow goal when he was first to a ball that came back off the post.

Mayo did get within two to set up a nervy finish but a late Christy Moorehouse free sealed the win.
