Maynooth University strolled to a comprehensive 25-point victory over Longford at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

The students completely outclassed their Leinster counterparts. In truth the game was in the bag 15 minutes in.

Maynooth's starting 15 included a host of players from the hurling superpowers, including four from Tipperary and five from Kilkenny.

Offaly's Paul Kinsella struck six points for the students in the first half with MJ Lawlor and Eoin Kenny also contributing scores to their growing advantage.

Longford responded with points from Cathal Mullane and a late first-half goal from Connor Keegan but by this stage it was more about damage limitation.

After the interval things went from bad to worse for the midlanders, Kenny registering Maynooth's fifth goal and goals from Lawlor and Fergal Murray closed it out.
