The narrow win means Mary I will face UL in tomorrow’s final, but LIT made them fight tooth and nail in grim conditions for a shot at the champions. Mary I are now on the cusp of a first ever Fitzgibbon title.

Eamonn Cregan’s men were four points to the good at the break but required four points from the dead ball from Hannon to overcome Davy Fitzgerald’s tenacious charges.

Mary Immaculate scorers: Declan Hannon 0-5 (0-4f, 0-1 ’65), Darragh O’Donovan 0-2, Ronan Maher, Colm Galvin, Niall O’Meara, David Reidy 0-1 each.

Limerick IT scorers: Diarmaid Byrnes 0-4 (0-2f, 0-1 ’65), Peter Duggan 0-2, Oisin O’Brien, Paul Killeen, Alan Dempsey 0-1 each.
