Mannions inspire Ath Eascrach surge
A' Eascrach Fothaine 1-17 Lismore 0-13
With brothers Padraig and Cathal Mannion outstanding at opposite ends of the pitch, Galway champions Ath Eascrach Fothaine produced a magnificent display in tough conditions to book their final spot in Croke Park.
Cathal Mannion led the way with 12 points as the Galway star excelled from play and from dead balls.
The Galway men held a 0-6 to 0-4 advantage but Maurice Shanahan was landing the frees at the other end to level matters at 0-7 each on 17 minutes. Luke Cosgrove reacted quickest to find the net for the Galway men on 26 minutes to ease them into a 1-10 to 0-9 half-time lead.
Mannion was a man on a mission in the second half though as the Galway men pulled away.
As Lismore mounted a final push, Maurice Shanahan (three) and Ray Barry (one) saw their 21-metre frees saved on the line as Ath Eascrach Fothaine held firm.
The game ended on a sour note with Lismore having Shanahan and John Prendergast sent off for straight red cards in injury-time over a fracas.
