Limerick make most of early promise
Limerick 2-24 Tipperary 0-19
Limerick cruised into the semi final of the Munster U-21 hurling championship with an impressive victory over Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.
First-half goals from Tom Morrissey and Barry Nash ensured that Pat Donnelly's side will play Clare in the last four of the competition.
Limerick made a fast start with points from Aaron Gillane, Cian Lynch and Colin Ryan putting them into an early three-point lead. That start got even better when Morrissey bundled the ball into an empty net in the sixth minute after Brian Hogan made a stunning save from Nash's effort.
Nash was then in for Limerick's second goal on 16 minutes when he collected Kyle Hayes' long clearance and rounded Emmett Moloney, before batting the sliotar past a hapless Hogan.
Limerick's dominance continued in the rest of the half as they tacked on a further six points to lead by 2-12 to 0-8 at the interval.
Tipperary had the aid of a strong breeze in the second half and used it to land the first three points - the impressive Ger Browne hitting the target twice for Willie Maher's charges.
The Premier County got to within six points of the home side but Limerick upped the tempo from that moment with four points on the trot, all of which came from Aaron Gillane.
Limerick continued to dominate from there with Peter Casey adding three sumptuous points towards the end that sealed an impressive 11-point victory.
