Lee too hot for Donegal to handle
Wicklow 2-27 Donegal 0-17
A combination of dominance under their own and opposition puck outs and Donegal's poor clearances formed the foundation for Wicklow's 16-point victory as both teams finish at the bottom of Division 2B, and will play each other in a relegation play off in two weeks.
Wicklow's full-forward line, especially corner-forward Mikey Lee, profited nicely from their midfield dominance.
Lee finished the first half with five points and two goal chances, one straight at the goalkeeper and the other ricocheted off the crossbar.
Anthony Byrne and James Cranley also contributed two points each in a half where all six starting forwards and two midfielders scored from play.
Donegal's Bernard Lafferty and Sean McVeigh hit over some nice scores and performed well, but their efforts could not claw back a 0-16 to 0-7 deficit at half-time, and an early Pádraig Doran goal in the second half put the result to bed.
It was a good win for Wicklow who will be confident going in to the play-off, though 12 wides will be a cause for concern.
