Joe Canning among the Galway representatives for Connacht's inter-pro encounter with Ulster
Connacht manager Justin Campbell has assembled a strong squad for the hurling inter-provincial series which will take place at Pearse Stadium in Salthill this weekend.
Four members of the Galway team which started the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny — Aidan Harte, Andy Smith, Conor Whelan and Joe Canning — are in the starting line-up for the semi-final against Ulster on Saturday.
Two more, Johnny Coen and Jason Flynn, are among the subs for the opening game, while the likes of Galway captain David Collins and several more subs are also involved.
Campbell, one of six nominated for the Galway manager’s job, guided Roscommon to the Nicky Rackard Cup title this year and the Kiltormer native has included Peter Kelleghan and Michael Kelly in the starting side for the semi-final, while another Roscommon player Liam Kilcline is in the subs along with Mayo sharpshooter Kenny Feeney.
Connacht will take on Ulster in the first semi-final at Pearse Stadium on Saturday at 12.30pm, followed by the meeting of Leinster and Munster. The final of the competition will take place at the Salthill venue on Sunday afternoon.
