Two second half goals from Jack Canning helped Galway recover from a nightmare start to beat Cork by 2-17 to 2-15 in today's All-Ireland minor final.

The Tribesmen plundered their 11th ever minor title despite giving up a goal to after just eight seconds to Cork's Brian Turnbull.

Evan Sheehan raised a second green flag for the Rebels but Galway kept in touch with fine point-taking and trailed by 2-7 to 0-10 at the interval.

Galway were the fast starters in the second 30 minutes with Canning getting the firs of his goals early on.

The next six points were shared before Canning rose highest to catch a long, speculative ball and finish emphatically to the net.

There was controversy soon afterwards when Brian Roche's sideline cut for Cork went all the way to the net but the goal was ruled out for a square ball.

Galway managed to keep their opponents at bay in frantic closing 10 minutes to claim the Irish Press Cup.
