Independent.ie Fitzgibbon Cup Group A Round 3

(2.0 unless stated)

GMIT v IT Carlow, Carnmore

DJ Carey's Carlow made a significant statement of intent last week when drawing with reigning champions Mary Immaculate and Stephen 'Picky' Maher should help secure a quarter-final place at a canter.

Odds: GMIT 10/1; IT Carlow 1/50; Draw 33/1

Verdict: IT Carlow.

DIT v Mary Immaculate, Grangegorman

Mary Immaculate head to the capital facing elimination if beaten and they must be on guard against the likes of Liam Blanchfield, Jack Guiney and Derek McNicholas. However, All Star centre-back Ronan Maher and Cian Lynch should edge it for Jamie Wall's side.

Odds: DIT 4/1; Mary I 1/6; Draw 12/1

Verdict: Mary Immaculate.

Group B

DCU St Patrick's v UL, St Patrick's

UL have oozed class with John McGrath and Stephen Bennett on fire in attack and while Tony Kelly may not feature after his heroics with Ballyea, this should be all one-way traffic.

Odds: DCU 12/1; UL 1/100; Draw 40/1

Verdict: UL.

Cork IT v NUIG, Cork IT, 7.0

One of the ties of the day as the winners secure a quarter-final spot and the availability of Ahascragh-Fohenagh duo Cathal and Padraig Mannion is crucial to NUIG's cause. Mikey Kearney has been in superb form for CIT, but with Conor Cleary at centre-back the away side may just do enough to qualify.

Odds: CIT 6/5; NUIG 4/5; Draw 8/1

Verdict: NUIG.

Group C

Trinity College v DCU Dóchas Éireann, Santry

Patrick Curran has been on song for surprise packets DCU, who should enjoy a comfortable win in this Dublin derby.

Odds: Trinity 6/1; DCU 1/12; Draw 16/1

Verdict: DCU.

WIT v LIT, WIT Sports Campus

A cracking contest in store with 2014 champions WIT playing for their survival. Austin Gleeson is their star turn, but he may be outdone by Waterford team-mate Shane Bennett, with Davy Fitzgerald's side displaying greater strength in depth.

Odds: WIT 7/4; LIT 8/15; Draw 8/1

Verdict: LIT.

Group D

Maynooth University v UCC, Maynooth University, 3.0

Kehoe Cup winners Maynooth possess Padraig Walsh and Brian Molloy, but a star-studded UCC side, including Alan Cadogan, Michael Breen and Jamie Barron, will be expected to make it three wins from three and top Group D.

Odds: Maynooth 6/1; UCC 1/12; Draw 16/1

Verdict: UCC.

UUJ v UCD, Jordanstown, 2.30

UCD fell by three points to UCC in atrocious conditions last week, but Déise duo DJ Foran and Tadhg de Búrca, as well as Cillian Buckley, should easily secure a quarter-final for Nicky English's side.

Odds: UUJ 10/1; UCD 1/100; Draw 33/1

Verdict: UCD.
