Flanagan goal gets Rossies back on track
Roscommon 1-21 Warwickshire 3-12
A rousing final quarter surge from Roscommon rescued victory from the jaws of defeat against a valiant Warwickshire outfit in Birmingham on Saturday.
The home side were six points ahead with 16 minutes remaining but Justin Campbell's men rallied to great effect and dug deep to grind out a three-point victory, thereby securing their place in the Division 3A final.
When Gerry Fallon missed a first-half penalty, Warwickshire took full advantage when full-forward Padraig Crehan found the net to help his side into a 1-9 to 0-8 interval lead.
Roscommon started the second half strongly and were back on level terms by the 47th minute, but they were rocked by the concession of two well-taken goals in as many minutes when Crehan and Ógie Long both raised green flags.
But the visitors used all their experienced to make a stirring comeback. A fine goal from Eamon Flanagan ignited the revival. Points from Gerry Fallon, Cillian Egan and Micheál Kelly followed as Roscommon remain firmly on course for promotion.
