Ciaran Corrigan bagged two goals as Fermanagh held off a Warwickshire rally to ease to victory on an emotional day at Brewster Park.

Leading at one stage by 14 points, Warwickshire pegged the deficit back to just four before the hosts found another gear to secure the win.

This was an emotional day for the Erne men following the death of team-mate Shane Mulholland in a car crash just a week previous.

The Fermanagh team paid tribute to Mulholland before the game by leaving a space for him in their team photograph.

Ahead of the game, Fermanagh joint manager Sean Duffy told the Impartial Reporter that his side will do all that they can to get to Croke Park to honour Shane's memory.

“The way the championship is, we have four games and we will have to win three of them. We have Warwickshire away again the following week. If we don’t win, it will put a massive dent in our chances of getting to Croke Park. We will be making it our aim to get there, especially now, for Shane," he said.

They were able to channel those emotions into a brilliant opening display. Kevin McGarry and JP McGarry were in inspired form early on with the later scoring the first goal.

David Millea struck back for Warwickshire with a goal of his own but Corrigan raised a second green flag for the home side.

Millea again responded in kind, and with five points in a row either side of half time Warwickshire were right back in it, with John Reddan to the fore during this time.

But led by the brilliant Daniel Teague at midfield, Fermanagh came right back and they put the game beyond doubt when Teague set up Corrigan to slot home his second goal.
