Kilkenny champions Carrickshock were never troubled as they booked their place in the All-Ireland club intermediate hurling final.

They beat Robert Emmetts (London) - who had two players sent off during the first-half, one harshly - in the semi-finals in Portlaoise yesterday.

Carrickshock started well and just kept going. Just five minutes had passed before former Kilkenny star Richie Power, starting his first game in a year, and Kevin Farrell registered points.

On they charged, with Farrell shooting five times from frees to help open out a gap of 12 points (0-13 to 0-1) at half-time.

Robert Emmetts opened the scoring in the second-half with a free from Eoin Chawke, but the opposition hit back through Damien Walsh.

A third point from sub Darragh Brennan pushed them 0-16 to 0-2 clear, and while Chawke converted seven of the frees awarded to the losers, they never really got within striking distance.

The Emmetts goal from Cathal Kehoe arrived eight minutes from the end, but there was no way back.
