Dwan eases Wee County to convincing victory
Louth 3-18 Longford 0-13
Excellent point scoring from Louth's Liam Dwan helped his side to a comprehensive Keohoe Cup victory over Longford at Pearse Park yesterday.
While both sides were guilty of wayward shooting over the course of this mismatched contest, it was the Wee County who easily emerged victorious.
The visitors were sluggish in getting out of the traps but once centre-forward Dwan found his range he fired over four points during the first half.
Longford have been struggling to find any momentum in this campaign and yesterday's encounter was a stark reminder of the gulf between the two Leinster counties.
After the restart, Louth refused to show any mercy and continued their attack of the Longford rearguard. Dwan had a glorious opportunity to net the game's first goal in the 40th minute but he fired his blistering shot just inches wide of the Longford post.
Five minutes after, and Colin Griffin finally found the back of the Longford net with a well-taken goal.
Longford, to their credit, did respond with three points from Conor Keegan and a brace from Patrick Walsh.
However, their brief spell was short-lived and two goals from Griffin and Donal Connolly closed out this one-sided affair.
