Two minor graduates look to have made a seamless transition into Dublin's senior hurling set-up, if last night's clash in Parnell Park is anything to go by.

Dublin 2-26 UCD 0-21

Donal Burke led the scoring onslaught with a towering 1-10, including four points from play, while Cian O'Sullivan tallied 1-1 during his 35 minutes on the field.

Na Fianna's Burke and St Brigid's teenager O'Sullivan were members of last year's Leinster winning minor outfit. By half-time, they had shared 1-9 of Dublin's 1-15 tally as the hosts recovered from a tepid start to race into a seven-point lead.

Backed by a strong wind, the students were quickly into their stride with a hat-trick of points. They still led by 0-5 to 0-2 after 12 minutes, all bar one of those scores coming from DJ Foran, their livewire All-Ireland U-21 winner from Waterford.

Burke was central to Dublin's recovery: he landed their first five scores, all from placed balls, to tie the game. This was followed by a quartet of eye-catching points from play - via O'Sullivan, a Niall McMorrow brace and Caolán Conway - to complete a run of seven unanswered scores.

The gap widened when O'Sullivan's soaring high catch was followed by a direct run on goal and unstoppable angled finish. It was a second goal in two Walsh Cup appearances for O'Sullivan - one of four Dubs to bow out at the break as Cunningham set about emptying his bench.

UCD rallied for a period, but they never edged closer than five points as the Quinn twins, Alex and Ben, along with Conway took their tallies to 0-3.

Victory was already assured before Seán Ó Riain was hauled down for a stonewall Dublin penalty, dispatched by Burke on 65 minutes.
