Drennan grabs crucial goal to fire CBS to derby decider

Kilkenny CBS were made battle all the way, but they eventually got the better of Good Counsel (New Ross) and booked a showdown with city rivals and defending All-Ireland champions St Kieran's College in the Leinster final.
A 56th-minute goal from Conor Drennan signed and sealed the win for Kilkenny CBS after the teams produced hectic action in this rescheduled semi-final in Thomastown yesterday.
A replay was ordered when the first game was abandoned after a Counsel player received a bad injury.
Counsel kept things tight during the first half, and with five points from the accurate Luke Sinnott they got to the break level at 1-3 to 0-6.
The scores were tied for long spells in the second half - eight times in all - before the CBS produced a big finish.
Drennan took over the frees and landed one before taking a pass from Sean Boyd for the decisive goal to make it 2-8 to 0-10.
Two additional Drennan frees sent the CBS into the final on Saturday week, most likely in Nowlan Park.
