Doyle duo dismantle shocked Wexford

Westmeath hit two vital second-half goals to inspire a deserved victory over a shell-shocked Wexford in this Leinster MHC quarter-final at Wexford Park.
Westmeath were the superior side and deserved their victory after a poor Wexford performance, with the midlanders recording their first ever victory in this grade over the Model County.
Ciaran Doyle opened the scoring with a point inside two minutes, as Westmeath went on to build a 0-6 to 0-5 lead by the end of the opening quarter. Ciaran O'Connor's frees kept the home side in touch, but it was still Westmeath who led by 0-8 to 0-7 at the interval.
Westmeath continued to dictate on the resumption with goals from Paddy Doody and Killian Doyle decisive. After Wexford then drew level late on, the midlanders picked off points through Killian Doyle and Ciaran Doyle to pull off a shock victory.
