A dominant performance from Wolfe Tones secured the Edgeworthstown club their fourth county title in a row at Pearse Park yesterday.

Forwards Paddy Cullen and John Mulhern were particularly impressive, contributing 1-7 between them.

The win was special for veteran Sean Browne, who picked up his 17th senior title, this time at full-forward, and once again showed his class to bag 1-1.

It was clear from the early stages of this one-sided encounter that Wolfe Tones were far superior to their opponents from Newtownforbes.

The reigning champions stormed into a commanding lead in the opening minutes when they registered 1-2 without reply.

Mulhern led the charge with a magnificent individual point from an acute angle, and a brilliant goal from Cullen put them firmly in control.

Things got worse for Clonguish and by half-time they were 10 points adrift and out of ideas.

After the break, Clonguish did fight back but it was short lived and Wolfe Tones romped home with four unanswered points - to the delight of their long-serving manager Mattie McLoughlin
