Down cruised to an emphatic win over gutsy Donegal in the Peadar O Liathain Cup quarter-final at Ballela.
The visitors travelled buoyed by their county's All-Ireland 'C' success the previous weekend, but Down proved much too strong.
The Mourne men led 2-8 to 1-2 at the break and even then it looked like a matter of how much they would win by.
To Donegal's credit they battled on but the damage was inflicted by the time Oisin Rooney hit two second-half goals.
With the outstanding Cormac Coulter picking of scores from play and from frees, Down took control.
They powered on with goals from Ronan Beattie found the net and Daithi Sands.
Rooney responded with a goal early in the second half, and got his second maximum late on; in between, defender Kevin Kealy found a way through to slam home.
However, Coulter had kept the scoreboard ticking and, with Beattie, Adam Doran, Phillip Miskimmon, Rhys Ward and Daire Magorrin on the mark it was Down who advanced to meet Kerry.
