Convery clinches Shield for Oak Leaf
Ulster shield final: Derry 1-17 Tyrone 1-12
Derry claimed the Ulster Hurling Shield title and reclaimed their place in the Senior Championship for next season with a five-point win over Tyrone at Páirc Éire Óg in Carrickmore.
But for Ruairi Convery's accuracy from dead balls, the Oak Leafers could have been in serious danger of suffering a shock defeat.
Convery struck 12 points to help his side over the line, while Gerald Bradley grabbed the all-important goal that gave his side the lead late in the third quarter.
Damien Casey brought Tyrone level three minutes into the second half but Convery's marksmanship still put his side seven clear.
Tyrone hit back with a Justin Kelly goal to make it a three-point game going into the final five minutes but Convery struck another couple of frees to see Derry home.
