Clare were in devastating form in the second half at Cusack Park this evening and as a result reached the semi-final of the Munster Minor Hurling championship.

An 18-point victory was merited and it could have been a lot more had they converted many of the 17 wides they also struck.

The opening half was a close enough affair with Clare going in 0-9 to 0-7 at the break. The home side got the first two scores through Keith White and Conor Tierney before Sean Crotty opened Waterford’s account in the fourth minute. In fact the visitors lead by 0-7 to 0-5 at one stage but four points in a row, late in the half saw Clare regain the lead before half time.

Waterford could only register two points in the second period while the Banner amassed a whopping 1-15. The game’s only goal was scored in the fifty fourth minute when sub Colin Haugh gathered a Rian Considine hand pass and rifled to the top of the Waterford net from a distance. Over the hour Clare midfielder Keith White put in a tremendous display scoring six points from mid-field before being replaced late in the game.
