A special 'box within a box' has been built to house Davy Fitzgerald for Kilkenny clash

WORD has reached us that a special ‘box within a box’ has been constructed in Innovate Wexford Park to facilitate a certain suspended hurling manager this weekend.

The temporary home has been erected within the press box area to facilitate Davy Fitzgerald as he completes his eight-week ban while watching his newly-beloved Wexford lock hurls with Kilkenny for a place in the Leinster SHC final.

To say this game is eagerly awaited would be an understatement, and that’s before you even factor in the Davy Fitz sideshow.

The Yellowbellies are gearing up for a 20,000 sell-out which, by all accounts, would constitute a record Wexford Park attendance. “They could have sold another 5,000 tickets - easily,” ventured one local observer.

As for whether their manager will be offering live sound-bites to the media during the match? For once, we suspect, Davy might try and stay tight-lipped ...
