Kilkenny's TJ Reid and Dublin footballer Jack McCaffrey have been named the Opel GAA/GPA Hurler and Footballer of the Year after their stunning displays helped their county's to All-Ireland success.

Reid (27) wins the award that his Ballyhale team mates Michael Fennelly and Henry Shefflin have won previously after amassing 4-32 across Kilkenny’s four championship games, 3-8 of which arrived in open play.

He struck a goal in each of the four game and was a nominee for man of the match in every encounter.

After a brilliant year in the Waterford half-back line, Tadhg de Búrca beat off competition from the Galway duo of Jason Flynn and Cathal Mannion to become the 2015 Young Hurler of the Year.

Jack McCaffrey is the Footballer of the Year after bringing his game on to another level this year.

He was astounding throughout the year and strong in the final despite suffering from a gastric bug in the week of the game.

Bernard Brogan and Philly McMahon were unlucky to miss out on the top gong.

After receiving his award, McCaffrey said: "Between the three of us or between any player in the Dublin team... I would have been delighted if any of them won it.

"This is an absolutely unbelievable honour but it comes after winning the All-Ireland which was our primary goal. It could have been any Dublin lad.

"The last couple of years have been a rollercoaster for me, it's funny you are after showing about six clips of Diarmuid O'Connor scoring when I was supposed to be marking him.

"We just go every year and focus on every game, it's one of Jim's key ethos's and these things, the All-Irelands come from that.

"Jim's unbelievable, Dublin have been very lucky to have a few very good managers but Jim is the man that I've done most of my playing under and he's so practical in what he does, it's so simplistic just focus on every game as it comes be it an O'Byrne Cup match or the All-Ireland final, we go through the same process."

Seven of 11 Dublin nominations were included in the All Star XV. The team also included four players from All-Ireland runners-up Kerry, Lee keegan and Aidan O'Shea from Mayo, Tyrone's Mattie Donnelly and Monaghan's Conor McManus.

Dublin have now won 103 football All Stars in their history.

The Young Footballer of the Year was Mayo's Diarmuid O'Connor after a brilliant breakthrough season.
