Wicklow share spoils

Wicklow held on to their unbeaten record yesterday -- but only just -- as they made a lucky escape from Aughrim with a share of the spoils.
After a first half dominated by Wicklow, Longford made most of the running in the second and clawed their way back to parity, 2-8 to 1-11.
Wicklow's Leighton Glynn and Sean McCormack swapped points and in the closing minutes Wicklow were fortunate that Longford failed to clinch victory at the death. On 70 minutes, the midlanders were awarded another scoreable free for victory.
But their usually accurate corner-forward McCormack, who had scored six points earlier, four of them from frees, pulled his shot wide of the near post and Wicklow were able to breathe a sigh of relief.
