Waterford gain revenge
Fourteen-man Waterford atoned for their shock defeat at Ruislip last year with an emphatic victory over the Exiles at Fraher Field.
London dominated the early exchanges, going 0-4 to 0-1 in the lead by the 16th minute. However, in the final 20 minutes of the opening half, John Owens' side took control to lead 1-6 to 0-4 at half-time thanks to a hat-trick of points from Michael Donnelly, a brace from Brian Wall, a Conor McGrath point and a Robert Ahearne goal.
Despite struggling for much of the opening half and playing with only 14 men following the dismissal of Mick Ahearne for two yellow-card offences, Waterford proved too strong.
A late surge by London in which they hit four points, all from Killian Phair, in an eight-minute spell were mere consolation scores as Conor McGrath (3), Liam Ó Lonáin, Robert Ahearne and Michael Donnelly with two apiece and Tommy Prendergast all hit points for the home side who ran out comfortable winners.
